MARK ROBINSON PUTS THIRD RIVER THROUGH HIS PACES
6 year old Gelding
by Riverhead out of Third Time
Stable name - Guinness
Third River is a handsome and fantastically powerful gelding, a real old fashioned Chaser type with good bone, big chest and powerful quarters.
He began his pre-race training as a 5 year old getting used to surroundings including gallops and schooling fences. Third River completed his pre-training work at home under our own Mark Robinson, prior to being sent to our chosen point to point trainer Steven Isaac, who is based near to Leominster.
The horse has had 3 runs towards the end of the 2009/10 season for his owners Martin Poste and Mr and Mrs Robinson.
His first run took place at Eyton on Severn where after racing in touch for much of the race Ben Poste sensibly pulled him up when he started to tire at five fences from home.
His second outing was at Tabley in Cheshire where after a great round of jumping which left him infront for a considerable distance Ben again followed instructions not to bottom the horse out and he was pulled up 3 from home.
His final run of the season took place at Bangor-On-Dee racecourse where he travelled and jumped extremely well, when coming into contention Third River looked sure to be placed but as luck would have it he was sadly brought down 4 from home.
The decision was then made to turn him away to grass and let him strengthen up before preparing for the 2010/11 season in which we have high hopes for the horse.
